10.02.12 – This month at Electrum, love is in the air, not only with Valentine’s Day approaching but also with our current exhibition Target the Heart running until the 3rd of March.

Inspired by the British Heart Foundation’s Mending Broken Hearts Appeal, Electrum and our sister gallery CAA have produced an exhibition showcasing the work of over 37 artists. Members of CAA and Electrum were invited to design and create work (jewellery, ceramics, glass, metal, furniture and textiles) with the central focus of their design being the ‘heart’. The results have been truly outstanding from a hand carved ebony heart with silver valves to a kinetic silver gilt and red enamel one-off heart ring. It really is a show not to be missed.

Continuing on the theme of hearts, we have an array of elegant, simple or statement pieces that would make the perfect gift this Valentine’s. If you need help choosing something to show your everlasting love, our Personal Shoppers can make some suggestions. Simply email sales@electrumgallery.co.uk, call +44 (0)20 7629 6325 or visit us from 10am to 6pm, Monday to Saturday.

We also have some exciting gallery news to share with you. The goldsmith and jeweller Jacqueline Mina was awarded an OBE in the New Year Honours list for her services to art.

Her recent exhibition Touching Gold – hosted at CAA and a number of other institutions – showcased the innovative use of precious metals Jacqueline is renowned for. A new selection of her work is now for sale at Electrum.

06.12.11 – This month we are celebrating 40 years of Christmas at Electrum.

Our Christmas exhibition ‘All that Glitters is not Gold’ showcases the work of over 35 international jewellery designers in a variety of materials and price ranges.

Whether you are looking for a statement necklace or something more subtle we have a fabulous array of jewellery to choose from.

We also have gift vouchers available in denominations of £10, £50, and £100 to make gift purchasing even easier.

As well as looking forward to Christmas, the gallery has some exciting news to share with you. The Goldsmiths’ Company is commissioning a piece of work by the jewellery designer Anna Wales.

After Anna initially showed her work at Origin in 2010, she was invited to submit some of her work to the Committee Collection to review. They were thrilled with her black and gold boa necklace and asked her to develop further prototypes.

As an employee of Electrum, we are incredibly proud of her achievement and can’t wait to see her final design.

Graduating from the Royal College of Art in 2007, Maud used her early work to provoke conversations about consumerism and popular culture. Working in precious and semi precious stone, plastic polymer and heaps of glitter, Maud has won the Nicole Stöber Award for Pushing the Boundaries of Jewellery in 2007. Her work features in the RCA collection.

Described as the ‘architectural’ jeweller by the Financial Times and renowned for using 100% recycled silver and bio-resin, Ute Decker is recognised as being one of the world’s first jewellers to create a collection from fairtrade gold. Her sculptural creations are minimalistic objets d’art that are equally striking collector pieces.

Working for Friedrich Becker, the inventor of kinetic jewellery, had a remarkable impact on Michael Berger as it led him to design his own pieces from precious metals and precious and semi-precious stones. By adding a fourth dimension – movement, his designs can spin and turn just like the kinetic energy of the body.

Having recently graduated from Central St Martins, Brazilian born Fernando Jorge takes influence from his culture and fuses it with traditional craftsmanship and modern technology to produce timeless elegant pieces. Known for using common gemstones found in his native Brazil, he cuts them into fluid sensual shapes, which have undoubtedly created a strong international following in such a short space of time.

International award winning platinum jeweller Tom Rucker was the first in the UK to introduce a state of the art laser welding technique known as ‘GEO.2′ to the jewellery market. His unique and intricate designs are mainly created in platinum alongside 18 carat yellow gold and finished with diamonds and rare coloured precious stones.

With the festive season fast approaching, our Christmas exhibition runs from the 11th of November until the 7th of January. It’s also that time of year to make someone’s Christmas truly special, so why not treat your family or friends to an Electrum gift voucher? Gift vouchers are available in denominations of £10, £50, £100 and valid for 12 months from the date of purchase. For more information contact us on 020 7629 6325.
